Yes folks, RadioClassics Channel 82 is online now as part of the Sirius XM internet service (and available on the Sirius XM Phone App)!

Also check out my Facebook page where we do hourly updates of the satellite radio channel schedule.

First of all we need to note the passing of very busy radio actress Doris Singleton. I will create a special for her to begin the week of July 8th. She is featured this week in an already scheduled episode of the Whistler (alongside Wally Maher) which debuts on Sunday (July 1st) at 1;30pm ET and airs again at 9:30pm ET on Wednesday.

Happy Birthday U.S. of A! We bring back the annual special with James Cagney in The Screen Guild Players version of “Yankee Doodle Dandy”; Bette Davis in The Cavalcade Of America’s “An American Is Born” and Lucille Ball and Laurel & Hardy in a WWII episode of Mail Call.

Also this year we have Norman Corwin’s “Citizen Of The World” from 1949 hosted by Lee J. Cobb and “Bob Hope Reports From Around The World” as presented on The Cavalcade Of America.

We have anniversaries of series radio debuts for the following programs –  Escape; Abbott & Costello; Casey Crime, Photographer; Philo Vance, Detective; and The Line-up.

Some birthday week tributes for Olivia de Havilland (she is 96!); Charles Laughton; Gloria Stuart; George W. Trendle and Bill Stern.

Once again I will be attending The Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention held in the Baltimore Maryland area at the Hunt Valley Inn from August 9th through the 11th. I will be there on Friday August 10th and Saturday August 11th 2012. If you are in the area stop on by and say hello. This year’s celebrity guests including Shirley Jones (The Partridge Family, The Music Man, Oklahoma…), James Darren (Gidget movies), Ron Ely (Tarzan), Sherry Jackson (Make Room For Daddy) plus Jay North and Jeanne Russell (Dennis and Margaret from TV’s Dennis The Menace)  You can learn more about the event at the following link http://midatlanticnostalgiaconvention.com/

  1. I saw Doris Singleton in a couple of Perry Mason episodes. Also I have Andy Griffith singing the vocals to the theme of the Andy Griffith Show.

  2. It has been quite a year so far. So many iconic celebrities have left us in 2012. Hopefully the trend will cease for a while.

Did everyone enjoy July 4 despite the brutal heat and storms? It seems there is nowhere to hide from the heat, but hopefully the electricity will stay with us so that we can keep the A/C running.

  3. Now Andy is gone…..

Did he do any radio? I know he did standup comedy at one point. I love his take on Romeo and Juliet.
