Dec. 16th to Dec. 22nd 2012 RadioClassics Show Schedules

If you haven’t grabbed it yet, the new weekly schedule can be found by clicking to see Full Story & Pictures and then the following link; ShowSchedules

As many of you have asked for years now, I am happy to announce the collection of my personal favorite radio shows is now available in time for Christmas. Radio Classics Selected By Greg Bell is a 10 CD collection with my introductions and wrap-ups just like I do on my satellite and regular radio shows. And while it does not include everything I love on the channel,  it offers up a good mix of genres with many episodes that have never aired before on either of my shows. I also wrote the companion booklet which is peppered with some great photos of radio stars.

Also remember we are still looking for folks to join us on the Radio Spirits Old-Time Radio Cruise departing June 22nd 2013 from the New York City area for Bermuda for a 5-day cruise which will include many classic radio themed events including live on stage re-creations. Cabin are available and you can learn more at this link

This week features even more Christmas themed shows but also still a fair amount of regular programming. As next week (Dec. 23rd – 29th) will be pretty much all holiday themed episodes we have birthday tributes for folks born this week AND next. They include Humphrey Bogart, Cathy Lewis, Betty Grable, Irene Dunne, Richard  Widmark, Marlene Dietrich, Tony Martin and Katina Paxinou.

  1. I have checked my Siriusxm subscription to make sure I paid for 12 months and not 11. Seems that on this channel over half of the shows “Cut Off Early”.

When I’m listening to the Rock & Roll channel, when “Rock Around the Clock” plays they don’t cut it off at “11 O’Clock”, they play it until it says “12 O’Clock”. Elvis sings until the end of his songs.

I find that now I am tuning in on this channel 10 minutes before the half-hour to see if that program on is CUT SHORT. Most of them are stopped before the credits. My enjoyment of this channel is gone. Guess it’s more important to get in that 1 minute of commercials. I thought my subscription paid for most commercials?

Wonder if someone at Siriusxm can answer some of these questions?

    1. I have no idea what you are talking about. Nothing cuts short on RadioClassics. It all runs like it always does. Are you recording shows instead of listening live? The commercial rotation for my channel is the same as it has been for years. There is no adding of spots, as a matter of fact since 1 minute per hour is used for cross-channel promotions, I actually have less commercials than previously. So can’t address the “Rock & Roll Channel” but RadioClassics is not cutting off early. Greg

  2. Hi, Greg! I am 72 years old and these sure bring back memories! One that I can remember laying on the floor listening to on Saturday mornings was “Big John And Sparkey”. Now that was when I was REAL little! Also one of the best for us grown ups was “The Bickerson’s” with Don Ameche and Francis Langford. Sure wish you would play more of that one, especially in the late afternoon to enjoy on the way home from work. (4-6 PM).

Welcome also to nmccallion. You sure will enjoy.

  3. Hello. This is my first post to your blog. I just love the Radio Classics channel and it was one reason that I purchased a new car. Thanks Greg for bringing such wonderful shows back on the air. Some of my favorites are Our Miss Brooks, Fibber McGee and Molly, Suspense, Johnny Dollar and many more. Often times I am sitting in the parking lot, unable to leave the car until the conclusion of the show.
