June 16th to June 22nd, 2013 RadioClassics Show Schedules

If you haven’t grabbed it yet, the new weekly schedule can be found by clicking to see Full Story & Pictures and then the following link; ShowSchedules

As the week begins with Father’s Day, I not only have a few appropriately themed comedy episodes from The Life Of Riley, Red Skelton Show and of course Father Knows Best, but once again my father, Dan Bell, has picked a couple hours of shows. He selected new to the channel episodes from Gunsmoke, Have Gun – Will Travel, Hopalong Cassidy as well as a big favorites of his, The Roy Rogers Show.

And speaking of new to the channel, we have a couple from Suspense are part of the 71st Anniversary of the long running CBS series radio debut.

As to the birthday list, it includes both this week’s honorees, but also a few for next week. Why? Because as most of you know, I will be sailing the Atlantic on the Radio Spirits sponsored inaugural old-time radio cruise to Bermuda. Hopefully that listener event is the first of many to come.

So expect tributes for Paul Frees (Escape, The Whistler, The Green Lama) ,Errol Flynn (Lux Radio Theater), Ben Morris (Dark Fantasy, Pat Novak For Hire), Wonderful Smith (The Red Skelton Show) and writer Stanley Niss (Gangbusters) as well as early specials for Phil Harris (Harris & Faye Show, Jack Benny Program), Mary Livingstone (Jack Benny Program), John McIntire (Suspense, Escape), Jack Moyles (Rocky Jordan), Ed Gardner (Duffy’s Tavern) and Peter Lorre (Mystery In The Air, Suspense).

  1. I wonder who will be doing the hosting duties while Greg is away. Will we have a guest host or did he record himself ahead of time to introduce the shows? Because I have to tell you, I don’t tune in just to hear the programming. I like to hear Greg give me show details and trivia between shows.

  2. Greg, While introducing the Fathers Knows Best fathers day episode you said it aired on fathers day June 15 1950. The show might have been pre recorded on the 15th, but June 18 1950 was fathers day. I know, because I was born on fathers day in 1950.
Love Radio Classics, I listen every day. Have been a listner for 10 years.

  3. I agree Cora. I hope the cruise is a wonderful success and that Greg will post some pictures.
I may be wrong with this comment but I think men prefer westerns more than women. I like suspense and the detective shows. But, I want to wish all the fathers a Happy Fathers Day.

    1. Hi Lana. I was never a big fan of the westerns either but have come to love Gunsmoke and Frontier Gentleman. Not to mention the new Longmire series playing on TV now, but it is a modern western. Used to think they were all geared to the kiddies previously. I also prefer the mysteries given a choice.
      Happy Father’s Day!

  4. Happy Sails to everyone attending the cruise. Hope it is an epic success. Wish I were going too.
