It’s a very busy week folks! Not only are we presenting the two-hour special Kirk 101 which celebrates the 101st birthday of Hollywood living legend Kirk Douglas, but we also bring back some of last year’s Day Of Infamy – Pearl Harbor Day specials.
Last year for the 75th anniversary of the December 7th, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, we spent an entire day presenting multiple wartime and war themed classic radio episodes. This year we bring back a part of that special offered up in three different two-hour blocks.
Highlights include the following: Norman Corwin’s landmark patriotic programs – We Hold These Truths and Screen Guild Theater’s production “Between Americans” which aired on December 7th, 1941 plus Lux Radio Theater’s “Air Force” and The Cavalcade Of America’s “Walk In The Sun” Sprinkled throughout the specials will be some original and breaking radio news broadcasts from the actual Day Of Infamy.
Back to the birthday specials, in addition to Kirk Douglas’s 101 (Suspense, Academy Award Theater, Screen Director’s Playhouse) we’ll celebrate the following folks among others: Agnes Moorehead (Suspense, The Shadow, Columbia Workshop); Douglas Fairbanks Jr (Academy Award Theater, Suspense, Jack Benny Program); author Dalton Trumbo (“Johnny Got His Gun”), Arch Oboler (Lights Out) and radio actor Whitfield Connor (Inheritance, Suspense).
Cabins are booking folks for the 6th Annual Radio Spirits Sea Cruise but the ship is filling up fast, so if you are interested in joining me next August for a 7 day cruise to Alaska, you need to hold your cabin now.
