Headlining this week our annual Poe Man’s Radio Special (the 16th!) as we celebrate the birthday of legendary 19th century poet and short story writer, Edgar Allan Poe. This year we’ll have radio productions of his following works: The Tell-Tale Heart, Murders In The Rue Morgue, The Purloined Letter, Metzengerstein, Mystery Of Marie Roget and The Narrative Of Arthur Gordon Pym.

This week we offer up birthday tributes for both radio and motion picture superstars including George Burns; Cary Grant (radio versions of Mr. Lucky, Theodora Goes Wild, Shadow Of A Doubt plus his appearances on Suspense’s On A Country Road and Black Path Of Fear); Marjorie Anderson (Margo Lane on The Shadow ); Margaret O’Brien’s 81st (Lux Radio Theater’s Meet Me In St. Louis, Suspense’s Cricket); Herb Ellis’ 97th (Nero Wolfe, Dragnet, Tales Of The Texas Rangers); Danny Kaye; DeForest Kelley (Dr. McCoy on Star Trek featured in a Suspense production); Tudor Owen (Jocko on Pat Novak For Hire); Elliott Reid (Suspense, Escape, X-Minus One); composer Cy Feuer (Escape); William Bendix (The Life Of Riley); producer Irving Brecher (The Life Of Riley) and announcer John “Bud” Hiestand (Let George Do It, Burns & Allen, Mel Blanc Show, Bergen & McCarthy) and others.
