We celebrate the 86th anniversary of Jack Benny’s radio debut with a First and Finale Special plus mark this week’s Kentucky Derby with a two-hour horse themed block featuring episodes from The Jack Benny Program, Duffy’s Tavern, Boston Blackie, Gangbusters).

Quite a busy week for birthdays as well: Here’s just a some of the major names we celebrate;

Eve Arden (Our Miss Brooks and The Danny Kaye Show); Bing Crosby; Mary Astor (Campbell Playhouse’s “Hurricane”); big screen leading man Glenn Ford (Suspense as well as Studio One’s version of the thriller “The 39 Steps” the same book was also made into 1935 Alfred Hitchcock directed motion picture); British film star Brian Aherne; Alice Faye (Phil Harris & Alice Faye Show); Bret Morrison (The Shadow); Ben Wright (PursuitSuspense); Tyrone Power (guest on The Jack Benny Program); Harry McNaughton (It’s Higgins, Sir); Dan O’Herlihy; Rosemary Rice; James Nusser (Gunsmoke, Let George Do It) and legendary radio writer/director Norman Corwin (Columbia Workshop, One World Flight, plus a portion of my past interview with him on the eve of his 100th birthday).
