This week is special, to paraphrase The Beatles, its Eight Days A Week!  Beginning on Monday May 21st the weekly schedule on SiriusXM RadioClassics will run from Monday through Sunday, so in order to make that transition, we have a bonus Sunday – and it’s very special one. Jimmy Stewart Sunday marks the multiple Oscar nominated movie star and radio actor’s 110 birthday, and we will celebrate with a 24 hour special.

All Stewart All Sunday (May 20th) featuring multiple episodes of The Six Shooter as well as radio versions of many of his motion pictures including It’s A Wonderful Life, Destry Rides Again, The Philadelphia Story, Call Northside 777 and The Shop Around The Corner. We also have Jimmy in a couple from Suspense plus visiting the comedy shows of Jack Benny and Bob Hope.

Leading up to Jimmy Stewart Sunday we have many other specials and birthday highlights:

We begin the week with Mother’s Day (and four appropriately themed episodes from Harris & Faye, The Red Skelton Show, The Life Of Riley, Our Miss Brooks. This year we also have a two-hour special featuring 8 episodes of the long running radio soap opera Ma Perkins starring Virginia Payne.

Among the other birthday tributes: Henry Fonda (Lux Radio Theater’s “Mary Burns, Fugitive”, The Cavalcade Of America, Suspense); Joseph Cotten (Suspense, Academy Award Theater); Maureen O’Sullivan (Chase & Sanborn Hour, Suspense); James Mason (Suspense), June Duprez (Suspense); author Daphne du Maurier (Lux Radio Theater’s “The Birds”); bandleader Meredith Willson (The Burns & Allen Show) and boxer Joe Louis (his appearance on The Jack Benny Program).

It’s also National Police Week so we are featuring Dragnet, Tales Of The Texas Rangers, Calling All Cars; Police HeadquartersBroadway Is My Beat, The Lineup and others.
