Norman Corwin’s On A Note of Triumph V-E Day Celebration which once again includes my past visits with both Corwin and radio actor and WWII vet, Cliff Carpenter as well as multiple episodes of Words At War plus Lux Radio Theater’s adaptation of the following WWII era motion picture “Pride Of The Marines”.
Quite a busy week for radio legend birthdays as we celebrate both Bob Hope (Bob Hope Show, Cavalcade Of America, Suspense) and Fred Allen (Fred Allen Show, Family Theater, Screen Director’s Playhouse).
Others birthday specials include Stacy Keach, Sr (director of Tales Of The Texas Rangers); cartoon voice wiz Mel Blanc (The Mel Blanc Show, Jack Benny Program, Judy Canova Show); Walter Tetley (Leroy on The Great Gildersleeve, Julius on The Phil Harris & Alice Faye Show); Don Ameche (Chase & Sanborn Hour, The Bickersons); Tony Curtis (Guest on The Jack Benny Program) and Marilyn Monroe (Guest on Bergen & McCarthy).
We also celebrate the 69th anniversary of the debut of Dragnet with two hours of episodes (four in a row); plus series debut anniversaries for The Casebook Of Gregory Hood (72nd), The Jack Carson Show (75th) and The Adventures Of Archie Andrews (75th).
