It’s National Police Week so we are featuring Dragnet, Tales Of The Texas Rangers, Police Headquarters, Broadway Is My Beat, Calling all Cars and The Lineup.

We have birthday tributes for a number of familiar movie stars including: Henry Fonda (Lux Radio Theatre’s “Mary Burns, Fugitive”, The Cavalcade Of America, Suspense); Joseph Cotten (Suspense, Academy Award Theatre); Maureen O’Sullivan (Chase & Sanborn Hour, Suspense); James Mason (Suspense’s version of Agatha Christie’s “Where There’s A Will”) and June Duprez (Suspense).

Additional birthday specials for boxer Joe Louis (guest on The Jack Benny Program); British writer Daphne du Maurier (Lux Radio Theatre’s version of “The Birds”) and bandleader Meredith Willson (The Burns & Allen Show).

We mark the following series debut anniversaries: True Detective Mysteries (90th); Information Please (81st) and The Whistler (77th).

Also be sure to check out a special two-hour block featuring co-host Michael Schwartz. The Arizona resident is a major channel fan and was the winning bid in the Why Hunger Hungerthon contest. Michael and his wife Rachell joined me in my Washington DC studios and he picked the programs and we talked classic radio. Michael’s two-hour block features episode of X-Minus One, Richard Diamond, Gunsmoke and Duffy’s Tavern.
