First a note: This year’s Christmas In July Week (the 17th Annual!) airs this year from Monday July 22nd – Sunday July 28th during my annual Radio Spirits Sea Cruise (the 7th Annual).

Topping the highlights this week is a two-hour special to celebrate the 50th Anniversary Of Moon Landing. Apollo 11 touchdown down on the lunar surface on July 20th, 1969. RadioClassics pays tribute with three moon related science fiction stories from Dimension X and X-Minus One. Sprinkled throughout the special will be lots of actual NASA audio from the mission. Much more than just “One Small Step For Man….”

We also celebrate the following series anniversaries – Gangbusters‘ 84th, featuring four episodes of that true crime series created by Philip H. Lord. Three offerings from The Columbia Workshop to mark that program’s 83rd. And we also have Eve Arden in a couple from Our Miss Brooks, a popular comedy program which debuted 71 years ago.

We have birthday blocks for James Cagney (including Lux Radio Theatre’s “Angels With Dirty Faces” and Suspense’s “Love’s Lovely Counterfeit”); Natalie Wood (Two from The Family Theatre); Red Skelton; Ginger Rogers (Lux’s “Stage Door); Art Linkletter; Barbara Stanwyck (Lux’s “Stella Dallas”); Harriet Hilliard (Ozzie & Harriet, Suspense); Narrator William Woodson (This Is Your FBI): prize winning author Ernest Hemmingway (Lux’s “For Whom The Bell Tolls”); radio and television actress Eve McVeagh (Crime Classics) and famed producer Himan Brown (Inner Sanctum Mysteries, Bulldog Drummond).
