Leading the birthday tributes this time is a former child actress still with us and turning 81. Anne Whitfield played youngest daughter Phyllis on the Phil Harris & Alice Faye Show, and in addition to a couple episodes from that popular comedy series, she also takes on a dramatic role working alongside John Lund in an offering from Suspense.

A number of new to the channel this week offerings to mark the birthdays of the following folks among others: Larry Thor (Broadway Is My Beat, Suspense, Rocky Jordan); Willard Waterman (The Great Gildersleeve, The Whistler); Fred MacMurray (Suspense, Bright Star and Lux Radio Theater’s version of “The Miracle Of The Bells”); Raymond Massey (NBC War Bond Parade special, Arch Oboler’s Plays, The Inner Sanctum Mysteries); Lurene Tuttle (Sam Spade, The Whistler, The Red Skelton Show); Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs; singer and dancer Peggy Ryan (guest on The Bob Hope Show); and announcers Don Wilson (The Jack Benny Program) as well as Hal Gibney (The Six Shooter, Tales Of The Texas Rangers, Dragnet).

We also mark a couple series anniversaries: The Great Gildersleeve (78th) and Defense Attorney (68th).

Also it’s never too early to book a cabin for our next Radio Spirits Cruise. My 8th Annual Sailing-With-The-Fans departs from Galveston, TX on June 28th, 2020 for a seven day Western Caribbean excursion with stops in Jamaica, The Cayman Islands and Cozumel.
