A couple specials make their debut on the channel this week.

First of all this is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, so we have a two-hour block featuring four trucker themed stories courtesy of Escape “The Thirteenth Truck”, The Whistler “Lonely Highway”, Let George Do It “No Riders” and Suspense “Ride Down Cajon”.

We also have a two-hour block known as Friday ‘n 13. In honor of that superstitious pseudo holiday, we are playing episodes of Dragnet featuring Joe Friday plus episodes of Alan Ladd in Box 13!

Heading up our birthday tributes this week channel friend actress Peggy Webber as she turns 94. Still quite busy with her modern radio troupe, The California Artist Radio Theater, we celebrate her this year with an appearance as Ma Friday on Dragnet plus her work alongside John Dehner in the famed post-apocalyptic science fiction Escape production “Earth Abides”.

Additional birthday specials for Edmond O’Brien (Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, Suspense); Penny Singleton (Blondie); Tom Conway (Sherlock Holmes, The Saint); Anne Seymour (Inner Sanctum Mysteries); Jackie Cooper (Suspense, Lux Radio’s Lives Of A Bengal Lancer) and Claudette Colbert (Lux Radio’s The Awful Truth).

Plus birthday tributes for the following authors: Roald Dahl (Escape’s Poison); O. Henry (The Cisco Kid) and Agatha Christie (with Campbell Playhouse’s version of The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd, Radio City Playhouse’s Witness For The Prosecution).
