On to the weekly highlights:

Headlining this week our annual Poe Man’s Radio Special (the 18th!) as we celebrate the birthday of legendary 19th century poet and short story writer, Edgar Allan Poe. This year we’ll have radio productions of his following works among others: The Tell-Tale Heart, Murders In The Rue Morgue, The Purloined Letter, The Black Cat, Mystery Of Marie Roget and The Gold Bug.

This week we offer up birthday tributes for both radio and motion picture superstars including Cary Grant (heard in radio versions of Mr. Lucky, Only Angels Have Wings, Shadow Of A Doubt, plus his appearances on Suspense’s On A Country Road and Black Path Of Fear); Margaret O’Brien’s 83rd (Lux Radio Theatre’s Meet Me In St. Louis, Suspense’s Cricket); Danny Kaye; plus a centennial celebration for Elliott Reid (Suspense, Escape, X-Minus One).

Also birthday blocks for William Bendix (The Life Of Riley); Herb Ellis (Nero Wolfe, Dragnet); Stephen Dunne (Sam Spade, Family Theatre); composer Cy Feuer (Escape) and announcer John “Bud” Hiestand (Let George Do It, Burns & Allen, Mel Blanc Show, Bergen & McCarthy) and others.
