The 8th annual Radio Spirits sponsored cruise is booking cabins. We sail north from Galveston Texas on June 28th, 2020 with stops in Jamaica, Cozumel and The Cayman Islands. While at sea we talk classic radio and perform radio plays live on stage, sound effects and all. On to the weekly highlights:

This week we mark President’s Day/Washington’s Birthday with a creative block: The CBS Radio Workshop’s “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue”; Ronald Reagan playing Ulysses S. Grant on The Cavalcade Of America, and A Washington’s Birthday episode of Life With Luigi.

We have a great week of birthday specials for some of radio’s top performers including Gale Gordon (Our Miss Brooks, Fibber McGee & Molly, Casebook Of Gregory Hood, My Favorite Husband, Harris & Faye, The Halls Of Ivy); Robert Young (Father Knows Best, Suspense); Sheldon Leonard (The Saint, Jack Benny Program, Martin & Lewis); Staats Cotsworth (Casey Crime Photographer & CBS Radio Workshop); Alonzo Deen Cole (The Witch’s Tale, Casey Crime Photographer) and legendary SNL announcer Don Pardo 1918-2014 (Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator).

We also celebrate the birthdays of some motion picture actors including Edward Arnold, Merle Oberon, Cedric Hardwicke, Adolphe Menjou, Zachary Scott plus presidential daughter Margaret Truman (co-starring with Jimmy Stewart in a radio version of the comedy “Jackpot” plus appearing on The Dennis Day Show).
