Sorry about this week’s posting being a bit late.

Plenty of birthday specials this week, but first let’s talk about a series debut anniversary.

Father Know Best first came to radio 71 years ago on August 25th, 1949 (moved to television on October 3rd, 1954). We celebrate it’s anniversary with an hour of new to the channel episodes.

We also have a special marking the anniversary of the nationwide theatrical release of “The Wizard Of Oz” (August 25th, 1939). We bring back the hour long Lux Radio Theatre 1950 adaptation with Judy Garland back as Dorothy.

As to those birthdays? Well we have specials for both movie stars and radio performers:

Ingrid Bergman (Lux Radio Theatre’s version of “Jane Eyre”); Charles Boyer (Cavalcade Of America, Screen Director’s Playhouse); Larry Thor (Broadway Is My Beat, Suspense, Rocky Jordan); Willard Waterman (The Great Gildersleeve, The Whistler); Fred MacMurray (Suspense, Bright Star and Lux Radio Theatre’s version of “The Miracle Of The Bells”); Anne Whitfield (Harris & Faye, Suspense); Raymond Massey (NBC War Bond Parade special, Arch Oboler’s Plays, Cavalade Of America); Lurene Tuttle (The Whistler, CBS Radio Workshop, Mutual Radio Theatre); Van Johnson (Suspense, Jimmy Durante Show); bandleader Bob Crosby (Jack Benny Program); singer and dancer Peggy Ryan (guest on The Bob Hope Show); Bobby Ellis (The Aldrich Family) and announcer Hal Gibney (The Six Shooter, Tales Of The Texas Rangers, Dragnet).
