Our birthday tributes are headlined by a couple Centennial Celebrations for Mickey Rooney and William Conrad.

Beginning as child performer and spanning nearly 9 decades, Mickey Rooney had one of the longest all-time show biz careers. We celebrate him with two different birthday blocks featuring his work in (Lux Radio Theatre’s “Merton Of The Movies”, Screen Director’s “The Human Comedy”, Command Performance, Suspense…).

The great William Conrad also earns two different two-hour centennial celebrations. Logically they feature Gunsmoke episodes but also ones from Escape, Suspense, The Whistler plus narrating a couple episodes of The CBS Radio Workshop.

Other birthday specials for the following folks among others: George Raft (as Rocky Jordan, and as a guest on both The Bob Hope Show plus Martin & Lewis); Martha Scott (Suspense, The Great Gildersleeve); Edmund Gwenn (Suspense); Paul Muni (Academy Award Theatre, Suspense); Jack Mather (The Cisco Kid); Barbara Britton (Mr. & Mrs. North); Hanley Stafford (Baby Snooks & Daddy, Suspense); Alfred Shirley (Sherlock Holmes); writer/ producer John Houseman (Mercury Theatre On The Air); and Cy Howard (the creator of My Friend Irma and Life With Luigi).

We also celebrate the birthdays the following authors: F. Scott Fitzgerald (Escape’s “Diamond As Big As The Ritz”); H.G. Wells (Escape’s “Country Of The Blind & Man Who Could Work Miracles” plus Author’s Playhouse’s “The Inexperienced Ghost”) and we’ll bring back the only interview between H.G. Wells and Orson Welles.
