This week begins in one year and then jumps into another, happy to put 2020 behind us and cautiously welcome 2021.
As you can imagine we’ll have a number of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day themed radio episodes from all the top comedy series including The Jack Benny Program, Burns & Allen, Father Knows Best, Phil Harris & Alice Faye, The Great Gildersleeve, Our Miss Brooks, Martin & Lewis, The Red Skelton Show, The Jack Carson Show, Fibber McGee & Molly. The dramatic shows also get into the action with holiday episodes from Sherlock Holmes, Philip Marlowe, Suspense and Casey Crime Photographer.
We also have some birthday tributes including ones for movie stars Ray Milland (Meet Mr. McNutley, Screen Director’s Playhouse’s “Alias Nick Beal”, “The Big Clock”, “The Uninvited”); and Dana Andrews (I Was A Communist For The FBI, Suspense, Screen Director’s Playhouse’s “The Best Years Of Our Lives”).
Plus we celebrate: Jeanette Nolan (The Whistler, Suspense, Gunsmoke); Ed Jerome (Blackstone, Ford Theatre); Richard Kollmar (Boston Blackie); musical director Basil “Buzz” Adlam (Dangerous Assignment, Pat Novak For Hire, Man From Homicide, The Six Shooter) as well as writer Isaac Asimov (X-Minus One).
We celebrate the 78th anniversary of the debut of the detective series Mr. & Mrs. North (episodes with both Joseph Curtin & Alice Frost plus Richard Denning & Barbara Britton); as well as the western program Hopalong Cassidy’s 71st.
Happy New Year.
