Some series debut anniversaries this week as we celebrate the quality Frank Lovejoy series Night Beat’s 71st with a First and Finale special. Plus we mark Dangerous Assignment’s 71st and Frontier Gentleman’s 63rd.
Heading up this week’s birthday tributes are two blocks for motion picture leading man Clark Gable. He recreates for radio his Oscar winning role in Lux Radio Theatre’s “It Happened One Night” plus he fills in for original lead Gary Cooper in Lux’s adaptation of “A Farewell To Arms”.
We also celebrate the birthdays of the following: motion picture actress and director Ida Lupino (she stars in two from Suspense plus visits Duffy’s Tavern); Ronald Reagan (Lux Radio Theatre); Zsa Zsa Gabor (Bob Hope Show); Bill Johnstone (The Line-Up, The Whistler, Pursuit); John Lund (Johnny Dollar, Suspense); Nigel Bruce (Dr. Watson on Sherlock Holmes); and Janet Waldo (cartoon voice legend featured on The Great Gildersleeve).
