The week opens with various U.S. Independence Day Specials (and for my Canadian listeners, Happy July 1st – Canada Day!)

We have some traditional patriotic fare from Norman Corwin and James Cagney (Yankee Doodle Dandy), we also have a couple Revolutionary War stories from the NBC series Inheritance plus The CBS Radio Workshop’s audio tribute to the USA known as “Sounds Of A Nation”. 

We celebrate the series debut anniversaries of the following: Mercury Theatre On The Air’s 84th; The Man Called X’s 78th; Jeff Regan Investigator’s 74th(with three different actors as Regan – Jack Webb, Frank Graham, Paul Dubov); Dangerous Assignment’s 73rd; Tales Of The Texas Ranger’s 72nd; Judy Canova Show‘s 79th; Philo Vance’s 77th; Casey Crime Photographer‘s 79th; Escape’s 75th and The Line-Up’s 72nd.

We also have a few birthday tributes: motion picture character actor Thomas Mitchell (Suspense); Gloria Stuart (Suspense); radio and cartoon voice performer Bill Thompson (Old Timer and Wallace Wimple on Fibber McGee & Molly); film and radio actor Glenn Langan (Mystery Is My Hobby); science fiction author Robert Heinlein (His story “The Roads Must Roll” on X Minus One); Marie McDonald (guest on Colgate Sports Newsreel) and opera singer Dorothy Kirsten (guest on Bergen & McCarthy Show) and WXYZ station owner George W. Trendle (The Green Hornet)

Also, I want to remind all of you that this year’s Christmas In July Week (The 20th Annual!) will air Monday July 11th – Sunday July 17th.
