It’s the 20th year of Christmas In July, a weeklong celebration cooling things during the heat of the summer with classic Christmas themed radio offerings. Since 2003, the RadioClassics channel has offered up this 7 days of wall-to-wall Christmas special featuring holiday episodes from nearly all of the classic programs, comedies and dramas.
This Christmas In July Week features radio versions of “It’s A Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed; “A Miracle On 34th Street” starring Oscar winner Edmund Gwenn as Kris Kringle; Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray in a radio version of their film “Remember The Night; the 1940 romantic motion picture “Christmas In July” starring Dick Powell as well as multiple versions of A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens including productions starring Lionel Barrymore and Orson Welles.
Holiday episodes from both comedies and dramas including by not limited to: The Jack Benny Program; Fibber McGee & Molly; My Favorite Husband; Burns & Allen; Harris & Faye, The Bing Crosby Show; Gunsmoke; Suspense; The Six Shooter; Tales Of The Texas Rangers; Yours Truly Johnny Dollar….as well as the more modern offerings of Sherlock Holmes from Jim French Productions of Seattle.
This year quite a few of the two-hour blocks are also available On Demand through the SiriusXM App. So listen at your leisure.
