This year’s annual Halloween Week debuts on Monday October 24th and continues through Halloween. Night October 31st (8 Days This Year!)

On to this week’s highlights:

The Adventures Of Ozzie and Harriet debuted on radio 78 years ago this week, so we celebrate that with an hour of that famed comedy program, as well as Ozzie and Harriet playing it straight in an episode of Suspense.

We also mark the debut anniversaries of The Cavalcade Of America (87th); Dennis Day Show (76th); Barrie Craig Confidential Investigator (71st); plus the Frank Sinatra led adventure series Rocky Fortune (69th).

Okay among the birthdays being celebrating on the channel this week; Hollywood leading ladies: Carole Lombard (Lux Radio Theatre’s “In Name Only); June Allyson (Screen Director’s Playhouse’s “Music For Millions”) and Janet Gaynor( Lux Radio Theatre’s “A Star Is Born”).

Additional birthday specials for some radio announcers: Tony Marvin (Casey, Crime Photographer); Don Rickles (not THAT Don Rickles but rather the announcer for Night Beat, The Whisperer, etc); and Fred Collins (The Chase, X Minus One, The Falcon).

Also being celebrated: Damon Runyon (Damon Runyon Theatre); writer John Tackaberry (Jack Benny Program); WWI Flying Ace Eddie Rickenbacker (The Fighting AAF); and composer Walter Schumann (Dragnet theme, Story Of Dr. Kildare).
