On to the weekly highlights:

We have multiple specials to mark Veteran’s Day. There is a two-hour August 1945 Command Performance hosted by Bing Crosby and marking the end of WWII. Another special featuring some tremendous war stories as produced for The Cavalcade Of America, The CBS Radio Workshop and Escape as well as Norman Corwin’s End Of The War Special, Fourteen August (1945) hosted by Orson Welles.

We also mark the 247th birthday of The US Marine Corps (formed November 10th, 1775) by presenting Lux Radio Theatre’s adaptation of the 1943 World War Two motion picture, “Salute To The Marines”.

We celebrate the birthdays of Claude Rains (Suspense, Ford Theatre); June Havoc (Suspense); Pat O’Brien (Academy Award Theatre, Cavalcade Of America); Roland Young (Topper, Suspense); Richard Ney (Suspense’s “The Man Who Liked Dickens); Norman Lloyd (Suspense); and announcer George Fenneman (Dragnet, Abbott & Costello, Martin & Lewis).

We also mark the birthday of the following writers Kurt Vonnegut, his 100th(Dimension X); Robert Louis Stevenson (Family Theatre, Escape) and Robert A. Arthur (Mysterious Traveler, The Strange Dr. Weird)

As well as directors Norman MacDonnell (Gunsmoke, Fort Laramie, Philip Marlowe) and Helen Mack (Adventures of The Saint, Richard Diamond Private Detective).

And we mark the 85th anniversary of the radio debut of the medical drama, Dr. Christian.
